Well I am headed from Washington…where just yesterday it snowed to sunny (hopefully) and warm Tampa.  I still do not have all the details of my trip/vacay planned out, so I would gladly welcome and tips on where to visit/eat/have a merry time.

Maybe not the biggest vacation hotspot in Florida, but it seems interesting and the airfare and hotel rates are pretty favorable compared to the rest of Florida.

To incentive-ise this, I will give away 5,000 Ultimate Rewards Points to the best suggestion, at my discretion.  So please, comment away….

Go to Bern’s Steak House. Best steak in Florida and their wine cellar is like a museum. I highly recommend a visit.

On a visit to Honeymoon Island, I learned about shelling (bring your own tiny rake and shovel). It is quiet and really pretty.

  3. I’ve only spent one night in Tampa. And flown in for a cruise a couple other times. But hands down, one of the best steaks you’ll ever have is at Bern’s (http://www.bernssteakhouse.com/). Definitely try to get reservations ahead of time. The meat is some of the highest quality you’ll ever have. The wine list is extremely extensive. And be sure to save room for dessert! They have a separate dining room for dessert. I promise you won’t regret your experience there!

Check out cigar city brewing, one of the best breweries in the southeast. Clearwater beach is nice as well. Maybe catch a lightning game or phillies spring training in Clearwater.

Just a little add to my previous suggestions

While berns is no doubt a fine steakhouse with one of the, if not the best wine selection in the country… I did myself seeking out local dive restaurants. I would suggest Smokin J’s BBQ and Pegs Cantina and Brewpub. Both are across the bay near the tropics a field in gulfport, an artsy community. Pegs has consistently been rated as one of the top brewpubs and has recieved several awards for their beers. Smokin J’s is some of the best BBQ I’ve had in Florida.
